MVD buys Russian UAVs to provide security at Winter Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi

­Today ZALA AERO confirms that it has won a tender to supply MVD with Unmanned Systems which include ZALA 421-08 and ZALA 421-16 fixed wing UAVs. This is the another UAS supplied to the Krasnodar region which already has a wide spectrum of UAV capabilities. Current and future UAS will be formed under future surveillance and reconnaissance system to provide security for the Winter Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi.

ZALA AERO can confirm that UAS will consist of two ground vehicles. First vehicle will provide technical service, transportation, launch and recovery of UAVs while the second (command vehicle) will be equipped with the latest video analysis technology. Both vehicles will be equipped with powerful central receiving systems that provide automatic signal tracking. Current UAS development is designed so that past, current and future ZALA AERO UAV systems will be integrated into a system where analyzed information will be passed on to the end-user secure reconnaissance system.

Recently launched UAV ZALA 421-16 received airworthiness certification earlier this year and has already demonstrated its capabilities at a number of tests as being reliable UAV capable of 4 hours endurance at cruising speed of 150km/h while providing real-time data and video communication up to 70km. ZALA 421-16 has a wing span 1.65m, carries onboard a number of payloads including gyro-stabilized high resolution video camera, gyro-stabilized IR camera and a high resolution photo camera. Current developments are being tested which include obstacle collision avoidance and using the platform as relay for both data and video communication.
