ZALA AERO launches new video tracking software

ZALA AERO today unveiled the latest development in the video software that is embeddable in to the ground control station (GCS) or video analytics workstation software. It requires no special hardware as it runs on off-the-shelf laptops including Panasonic Toughbooks.  Software will solve the overloading of information that UAV operators face when operating UAV and especially evident when two or three UAVs are operated by one by GCS. The software will allow the UAV operators to become more efficient in analysing the mass information passed on to them from the UAVs.

Software has the following advantages:

- Super resolution still images (higher than source video, synthesized from multiple video frames)
- Ability to have “VCR” capabilities while live recording (pause, rewind, seek etc.) and more
- Reading and writing of MPEG transport streams including embedded metadata (such as KLV data)
- Object marking (designate points on the ground and they will remain designated even as video moves or temporarily leaves field of view
- MPEG2/4/H264 streams or files
- Robust object tracking (keeps lock under temporary occlusions such as bridges, trees, other vehicles, as well as leaving field of view)
- Ability to integrate object tracking into camera turret steering and flight controller algorithms (to keep objects of interest in field of view)
- Virtual hover (allows fixing of a viewpoint even while the UAV orbits or flies past a point of interest)
- Real-time stabilization of imagery on modern laptops
- Multiple simultaneous object tracking
- Mosaicing

ZALA AERO is now working on the next version of the video software that will image process onboard the UAV and give UAVs more autonomy in terms of only highlighting the required set of information to the operators which in turn will allow the operators to operate an even greater number of UAVs simultaneously and keep the existing data communication channels.
